1 cop dead in vehicular collision in CamNorte

MANILA, Philippines – One policeman died while two others were injured after the car they were riding collided into a dump truck Saturday in Barangay Masalong Labo in Camarines Norte.

PO2 Bryan Balbin died, while PO2 Joseph Rubio and PO2 Lemuel Tatlonghari were brought to a local hospital after the accident. All three policemen were based at the Camarines Norte Police Provincial Office.

The three policemen were riding a car, being driven by a friend identified as Jerry Fabul, along the Maharlika Highway when the vehicle lost control, according to initial investigations made by the Philippine National Police.

The driver of the dump truck, identified as Ramon Zantua, said he saw the car lose control from far out, and brought his vehicle to a full stop.

But the car still rammed into the dump truck, which was owned by the local government of Labo.

The drivers of the two vehiclees will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to multiple serious physical injuries, homicide and damage tor property. -- Report by Karren Canon, ABS-CBN News Camarines
