Crisis team prepares for Sabah evacuation
ZAMBOANGA – The Crisis Management Committee (CMC) handling the Sabah conflict convened at the Western Mindanao Command early Tuesday morning.
Committee chair Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) OIC Governor Mujiv Hataman said, as of last night, there were at least 1,000 individuals transported from Sabah.
Aside from Zamboanga City, some of the evacuees were brought to Sulu and Tawi-Tawi provinces.
The CMC also discussed the possible massive evacuation in case the tension in Sabah worsens.
They also created the socio-economic teams composed of different government agencies to address the needs of the evacuees.
Hataman has also ordered agencies to include the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the National Food Authority to be on alert for emergency response.
After the meeting, Hataman immediately left for Tawi-Tawi to attend to the needs of the evacuees.
Authorities said they are ready to deploy 1,000 sacks of rice in Taganac island.
