Status quo in Bulacan gubernatorial row stays
MANILA, Philippines - The status quo order on the Bulacan gubernatorial row stays.
The high court failed to issue a ruling on the matter on Tuesday, citing additional petitions and opinions on the matter.
Unseated Bulacan Governor Jonjon Mendoza appealed the order of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for him to vacate his post for rival Roberto Pagdanganan.
The Comelec had ruled that Pagdanganan, based on a recount, was the winner of the 2007 gubernatorial race.
Supreme Court spokesman Midas Marquez said the en banc will likely issue a decision on Mendoza's petition next week.
Pagdanganan said he's disappointed with the Supreme Court decision.
"Justice delayed is justice denied," he said, lamenting the high court's "injustice by installment." -- reports from ANC; Timi Nubla, Atom Araullo, ABS-CBN News
