NAGA CITY – A monument depicting the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo will be in a t-shirt, shorts, and tsinelas or "garbed in the way that Nagueños remember him.”

President Benigno Aquino III led the groundbreaking ceremony for the  Jesse M. Robredo Museum to be built at the Naga City Civic Center right in his hometown.

Robredo's widow, Atty. Leni Robredo, was also present.

The museum, meanwhile, is envisioned to reflect the values and characteristics that Robredo was known for: simple, practical and sustainable, efficient and effective.

The existing trees at the museum site will be incorporated in its architecture.

Aquino said that Robredo would surely "blush" in the way that he is being honored. Robredo was not used to putting the spotlight on himself.

He says, however, that the monument and museum will surely inspire a new generation of Filipinos to work for change.

"Sa araw na ito, muli nating ipinamalas ang kahandaan ng Pilipinong ihakbang pasulong ang mga pagbabagong sinimulan ni Jesse tungo sa isang mas progresibong lipunan," Aquino said in his speech.
