DAGUPAN CITY – Two separate operations were conducted over the weekend by operatives of the Women & Children’s Desk Center (WCDC) of Dagupan City police against alleged abortionists.

In an entrapment operation, the team arrested two alleged abortionists at Perez St. in Dagupan City last Friday. The two were allegedly caught in the act.

Information against the two old ladies was brought to the attention of the police who immediately set an operation for their capture. Marked money, forceps and some paraphernalia were allegedly seized from the suspects.

The identities of the two elderly suspects were not disclosed.

Though the two deny the allegations, they were still detained and may face charges of killing innocent human beings.

On Saturday evening, WCDC said it tracked another house in the city which is believed to have been the site where incidents of abortions were allegedly performed. Though police said they failed to capture their target, medicines used for abortion were allegedly found inside the house.

Inspector Maritess Aradanas, WCDC–Dagupan head, confirmed that the team’s campaign against woman and child abuse is being taken seriously.

She said, however, that the success of their operations depends on the cooperation of the community. She encouraged residents to be more vigilant and report to police any suspicious activities and characters in their areas. With reports by John Germono
