Plane with 7 people reported missing in Cagayan
A private plane with at least seven people on board went missing while en route to Maconacon town, Isabela province, on Thursday morning, police reported.
Chief Superintendent Roberto Damian, Cagayan Valley police director, said a Chemtrad plane with tail number 764, which left Tuguegarao airport at 8 a.m. did not reach its destination. He said he had alerted all police units in Isabela and Cagayan provinces.
Damian said that based on a list obtained by the Cagayan Valley police, the light plane has seven people on board identified as Captain Tomas Z. Yañez, Capt. Reiner Ruiz, Senior Police Officer 2 Rolly Castaños, Celestino Salacup, Abelardo Baggay, Joel Basilio, and James Bakilan.
In a text message sent to reporters, the police director said they are "preparing for the worst scenario."
He said there's still a possibility that the aircraft made an emergency landing in an airstrip in Valley Cove in Baggao town, Cagayan province.
"This office is still verifying its present location in coordination with other concerned agencies," Damian said in the text message.
