2 NPAs killed, 1 hurt in Negros clash: Army
MANILA -- Two members of the New People's Army (NPA) were killed and one wounded in an encounter with government troops in Pamplona, Negros Oriental on Thursday morning.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Central Command said the firefight between the rebels and the military occurred in Barangay Balayong at around 6:30 a.m.
The 79th Infantry Battalion was conducting security operations in the area when the firefight ensued.
Retrieved from the scene were high-powered firearms and M16 rifles.
The NPA rebels reported killed and wounded have yet to be identified.
Helicopters of the Philippine Air Force's 2nd Air Division were put on standby to support the Army troops.
