President Arroyo celebrated her 62nd birthday Sunday in the hometown of her late father, former president Diosdado Macapagal, in Pampanga.

Mrs. Arroyo attended a Mass with her family at the St. Augustine Parish church in Barangay San Nicolas 1st, Lubao, Pampanga. The Thanksgiving Mass was concelebrated by Pampanga Archbishop Paciano Aniceto and 16 other priests.

A report from radio dzMM noted that almost all government officials of Pampanga, along with a number of local executives from Bulacan and some Cabinet officials, attended the Mass except for Pampanga Gov. Ed Panlilio, a critic of the Arroyo administration.

President Arroyo then had lunch with Pampanga local executives and members of the province’s clergy at the St. Augustine Hall. The lunch was off-limits to the media.

The President still went about her busy birthday schedule Sunday.

Mrs. Arroyo has been scheduled to administer the oath of office of 94 members of the Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Units (CAFGUs), who recently completed the prescribed basic Military Training conducted by 7th Infantry Division Training Unit of the Philippine Army.

In addition, the chief executive would lead the distribution of grocery gift packs to the municipality’s 1,000 poorest families.

She would then proceed to the Clark Freeport Zone for the formal opening of the Clark South Interchange of the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX).— with a report from dzMM
