Better traffic in NLEX, SLEX thanks to early holiday
The flow of traffic has improved for both the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) on Wednesday as most motorists have gone to the provinces as early as Monday, which was declared a holiday.
The government has declared April 6 a special holiday since Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) would fall on Maundy Thursday. With the said development, motorists were given a chance to travel early, reducing the number of people on the road come Thursday and Friday.
Still, there are a few bottlenecks at SLEX. From Bicutan to Sukat, for instance, the road has been narrowed due to ongoing construction activities in the area.
At Carmona exit, only three lanes are left for motorists from the original four lanes. On the other hand, only two lanes can be used from Cabuyao to Calamba from the initial three lanes.
Traffic is moderate along the southbound lane of SLEX from being light to moderate during the afternoon.
At NLEX, traffic is light to moderate at the Balintawak toll gate, while light traffic is seen along Bocaue, Bulacan. From Dau toll plaza until northbound, traffic is light to moderate.
Meanwhile, motorists are reminded to follow the respective speed limits of the two expressways. For NLEX, the speed limit is from 60 to 100 kilometers per hour. SLEX, on the other hand, has imposed a 40 to 60 kph speed limit for construction sites and 60 to 80 kph for the remaining areas. Report from Timi Nubla, ABS-CBN News
