Volunteers to hold Holy Week medical missions in Tacloban
TACLOBAN CITY - Instead of spending their vacation in provinces or beach resorts, a group of young leaders and professionals from all over the Philippines are willing to sacrifice time with their families and friends by holding medical missions in Tacloban City this Holy Week.
The Community Influencers Impact group decided to help poor families and individuals in 10 northern barangays in Tacloban City.
"We [will] spend our week in the community and sleep there. Aside from the medical mission, we also offer services to the community [like letting] them watch [films on] Jesus' story," said Dr. Gloria Fabrigas, coordinator on special project for health under the Tacloban CIty Mayor's office.
The group offers free consultations as well as dental services are given to the residents of the barangay, especially to the children.
Robert Yap, Barangay Bacagay chairman, said he is happy that their barangay would be one of the beneficiaries of the medical mission.
The medical and dental mission will be conducted until Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, the group plans to organize other activities that will benefit the community.
