1 killed, 2 hurt in Cotabato land feud
COTABATO CITY, Philippines - One person died while 2 were injured in a gunbattle between 2 groups fighting over land in Pikit town, North Cotabato Saturday morning, the military said Monday.
The firefight was between a group led by a "Commander Lugon Samo," alleged leader of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front's 108th Base Command and an ex-barangay chairman, Mando Mandalait of Barangay Balabak, in Pikit, according to Army 6th Infantry Division public affairs office chief Col. Prudencio Asto.
One died and one was injured on Commander Lugon's side while another one was injured on the side of Mandalait.
The Army's 7th Infantry Battalion has been deployed to the area to help the local government unit enforce peace in the community.
