Priest tells RH bill supporters to leave Mass
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines – A priest at the Baguio Cathedral drew flak from some Catholics after he ordered people supporting the reproductive health bill to leave the church and stop hearing Mass.
His remarks drew outrage from some parishioners, who walked out in consternation.

The priest, whose identity was withheld, used his sermon to mock supporters of the bill such as former Akbayan party-list Rep. Risa Hontiveros-Baraquel.
"Kung meron nakikimisa dito pero pro-RH bill… Please, go out. It's useless," the priest said.
"What is this mass for if you are pro-RH bill? What is going to Church for if you're pro-RH bill?" he asked.
The priest's statements were recorded on video by a parishioner.
The prelate also criticized Hontiveros-Baraquel. "Ang ganda-gandang babae niya...pero ang pangit-pangit ng stand niya."
The former legistlator said she was shocked by the priest’s statements.
“Nakaka-shock, nakakalungkot, nakakagalit. Can’t they let people worship in peace? Mahal na araw pa naman ngayon."
“Don't use the pulpit, which belongs to all the lay people, as attack vantage point,” she told ABS-CBN.
ABS-CBN News tried to get the side of the priest, but he left for a vacation in Laoag.
The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines also declined to give a statement, saying the body prefers to air its stand in dialogues. – report from Jeff Canoy, ABS-CBN News

The priest has the point
The constant stand of church guided by the Holy Spirit through its leaders is that, Contraception is a way of preventing new human beings from coming into existence. It is wrong because it is a deliberate violation of the design God built into the human race, often referred to as "natural law." The natural law purpose of sex is procreation.
Since God said "who is not with Me is against Me", therefore the priest has the point in asking the RH bill supporters to go out the mass. Because it is an hypocrite act for a worshiper attending the mass then strongly supporting against the teaching of God.
Though it can touch our ego but that's the truth.
All I can say is...
"Let he who has no sin cast the first stone."
Mr. Baguio priest, what if, as President, I call all the priests up to the line and ask them if they are sinless. Then I say those of you who have sinned are not fit to be preists and should leave the priesthood.
What is the point of being a priest if you yourself have sinned? What is preaching holiness for if you yourselves are unable to maintain your holiness?
I wonder what you would do then?
Casting a stone analogy does
Casting a stone analogy does not apply in here. Because it means condemning the person, that is why Jesus is against that. He gave always chance to sinners.
If we will apply your statement above therefore no one can correct someone because all of us are sinners.
In my understanding, what the priest was doing was a sort of correcting the RH bill supporters by applying challenge in their conceince. Because as I said in post above it is an hypocrite act for a worshiper attending the mass then strongly supporting against the teaching of God.
I am a true Catholic
What if he himself, our beloved Pope Benedict XVI, will come to the Philippines and personally preach against RH Bill passage? What would be the stand of our beloved Catholic members daw who are proponents and advocates? Will it make any difference? Hopefully! And if not, hmmmmm, sounds like the high priest, the Pharisees, the Sadducees and the followers of Jesus that sung hosanna and at the same time crucify him!!!
Sa 90 million filipinos 80%
Sa 90 million filipinos 80% roman catholic. Not true.
Talagang hindi mabuti ang maging katoliko, catholic religion make you poor. Look around most non catholic nations are not like us.
But body and soul are both important, the only one will go with us when we die is our soul our true companion, in fact when a body rot the soul is left alone. Loving our soul is the only way to glorify him when he walks alone.
RC is not the pope, bishops and priests. It is a society within a circle of RC, and it is the right of an RC to guide its flocks. But you are not one of its flocks.
Our fathers
In this time when Pope John Paul II's beatification is underway, I hope the late good pope would pray and come up with a miracle to save the Filipino priests. It appears for me that history is repeating itself during the time of the Spanish era when the spanish priests are dictating what the indios should do.
Give back to the filipino people the freedom of religion, freedom of speech and other forms of freedom the filipino catholic church is slowly pinakikialaman.
Your failures cannot be solved by dictatorships.
priest tells RH Bill supporters to leave mass
the Church should treat its flock equally. PNoy and cabinet members, legislators, etc., who are catholics and supportive of the RH Bill, should not be allowed to hear mass as well. Otherwise the church will be guilty of hypocrisy and double standard.
Padre Damaso
Can a 'bakla' be ordained as priest?
If the answer is 'YES', no further comment. Because this means, Catholic church can easily bend the laws it ratified hundreds of years ago. Our GOD and Jesus are true man, think of that!
But if the answer is 'NO', this moron priest has no right to or even think of it to dip its tongue in this bowl of RH Bill issue.
PINOY is simply imposing a good law to resolve poverty in lieu to tremendous airing of high prices in commodities.
How can we move forward to 'Real Change' if we always contradict to our leaders who are besting themselves to help poverty, corruption in PINAS.
