400 families evacuated due to floods in Lucena
More than 400 families have been evacuated in Lucena City in Quezon province due to floods caused by heavy rains brought on by tropical depression Crising.
Senior Superintendent Fidel Posadas, Quezon provincial police director, said the Iyam and Dumacaa rivers have overflowed due to heavy rains, affecting eight villages including Barangay 1, Barangay 5, Barangay 8, Cota, Dalahican, Ibabang Dupay, Ibabang Iyam, and Silangang Mayao.
Posadas said the evacuation started at 3:30 p.m. Thursday. He said the affected villager have been brought to elementary schools, gymnasiums and health centers around Lucena City.
He said police and disaster coordinating officials in the province have been alerted for more possible evacuations as rains continued to pour over the province on Friday morning. With a report from Tina Ganzon, ABS-CBN Southern Tagalog
