'Dante' strands passengers in Samar

Passengers in two ferry terminals in Northern Samar got stranded after authorities ordered the cancellation of the trips because of Typhoon “Dante."

As of Saturday, Northern Samar was placed under storm signal number one.

The Regional Disaster Coordinating Council reported 251 passengers stranded in Baluarte Terminal as of 7 am Saturday. There were also 39 vehicles stranded.

In Dapdap terminal, RDCC said there were 99 passengers and 18 vehicles stranded.

Meanwhile, heavy rains caused the collapse of the flood control system of the Shafon River in Merida, Leyte.

The estimated cost of damaged was around P5 million, but the RDCC said there were no reported casualties.
