NPA members kill ex-comrade in Surigao Sur
MANILA, Philippines - Suspected New People's Army (NPA) members killed a military volunteer and his wife in Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur on Monday.
Police said Persinifles Mayordomo, 52, was with his wife and children when at least 7 suspected NPA members flagged down their vehicle in Sitio Bingcongan, Barangay Bigaan around 2 p.m..
Investigators said the Mayordomo family was forced out of their vehicle and then shot by the rebels.
Mayordomo, assigned with the Army's 23rd Infantry Battalion, and his wife died on the spot while their daughter, Gemma was injured.
The civilian volunteer's son, Reynante, was able to escape from the rebels.
Police said Mayordomo is a former rebel, which could have been the reason for the attack. -- Report from Trinidad Velasco, ABS-CBN North Mindanao
