LP decries grenade attack on mayor's home
MANILA, Philippines – The Liberal Party (LP) in Pangasinan condemned the alleged grenade attack on the home of Urdaneta Mayor Amadeo Gregorio "Bobom" Perez IV, just two days after he hosted a lunch attended by President Aquino.
"We, in the Liberal Party, join our fellow Pangasinenses in expressing our anger over this latest outbreak of violence that target incumbent mayors of the province," the LP said in a statement released Saturday.
A grenade was hurled in Perez's house, but it did not explode.
The party said they have yet to determine the motive behind the incident.
The President was in Lingayen and Urdaneta City on Thursday to campaign for Team PNoy candidates in the province.
He also inaugurated several government projects in the area.
A grenade was also lobbed at the home of Bugallon Mayor Rodrigo Orduna last week.
Police have yet to determine if the two incidents are linked.
Orduna earlier filed plunder charges against Pangasinan Gov. Amado Espino Jr. for allegedly receiving P900 million “jueteng” funds.
