MANILA, Philippines – Two children were killed in a fire that hit their home in Toledo City, Cebu Friday night.
The two boys, a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old, were reportedly left unattended inside the house when their mother left to pick up their father from a drinking session.
The victims’ mother, Geovellyn Borgador, said the children were asleep when she left.
Borgador suspects that their pet cat could have knocked over a lamp, which triggered the fire.
The house of the Borgadors is located in a remote area, which made it difficult for neighbors to help put out the fire.
Fire investigators said there is no foul play in the incident.
They estimate damages to reach P20,000. -- Report from Jun Nino, ABS-CBN News Central Visayas
