A dismissed soldier who took part in the short-lived siege of the Oakwood Premier Hotel in Makati City in 2003 is running for mayor of Sipalay City in Negros Occidental in 2010.

Former captain Gary Alejano, one of the leaders of the so-called Magdalo Group, confirmed to ABS-CBN Negros that aside from running for the Sipalay City mayoral post, he is also planning to form the "Samahang Magdalo" party-list group.

Alejano said the group has started recruiting members of campaign team for 2010.

The Magdalo soldier said four more former rebel soldiers, including jailed Brig. Gen. Danilo Lim, are planning to run for electoral posts in the coming elections.

He said Lim may run for senator and the others may run lor local positions in their respective provinces. With a report from Romeo Subaldo, ABS-CBN Negros
