Cotabato residents lucky to see super moon
COTABATO City, Philippines -- Thick clouds continued to cover the super moon in some parts of Metro Manila and other provinces.
Residents in Cotabato City were lucky, however, to see it when it appeared at around 6:30 p.m.
Although it was not the first time they saw a huge moon, they said it still evoked a different kind of feeling, seeing it rise above the sky.
Mel Kamad, a vendor, saw it clearly in the sky about 6:30 p.m.
Muslims call it "ampat blas," which means that the moon was clear and huge because it’s not covered with clouds.
PAGASA weather forecaster Glaiza Escullar explained the size of the "super moon" appears to be 14% larger than normal because the moon will be in its nearest distance from the Earth tonight.
