Imelda, Imee Marcos proclaimed in Ilocos
LAOAG CITY, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has proclaimed Imee Marcos, daughter of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos, as the next governor of Ilocos Norte on Tuesday.
Marcos, who received 196,160 votes, won by a landslide victory, beating her cousin, Ilocos Norte Gov. Michael Marcos Keon, who got 86,005 votes.
Marcos’ lead over Keon is reportedly the largest winning margin for the gubernatorial race in Ilocos Norte's history.
However, Keon’s running mate, Angelo Marcos Barba won as vice governor.
Imee's mother, former first lady Imelda Marcos, also won a congressional seat in the second district of the province, besting her rival Atty. Mariano Nalupta Jr. with a margin of over 80,000 votes.
Meanwhile, Atty. Rudy Fariñas won the congressional seat in the province’s first district. -- Report from Randy Menor, ABS-CBN News Ilocos
