Lightning killed one person and injured three others in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Monday.

Fourteen-year-old Rene Cortez died after he was hit by lightning in Sitio Bulog, Barangay Camindangan, Sipalay City.

Edito Cortez said his son was resting at the bunk house after helping him and other workers with the road repair when the lightning struck and hit him.

The father was among the three people brought to hospital after being knocked out by the lightning. The two others were Raymund Grande and Jolito Bakiril, who both sustained minor burns.

It was drizzling when Cortez and the others were working on the road.
