Mayor's son shot dead in Cebu
CEBU, Philippines – Carcar City Mayor Nicepuro Apura wants justice for his son, Carl Vinsun, who was shot dead on Sunday in Barangay Upper Tubod, Carcar City, Cebu.
Vinsun, 25, was out with his friends partying until the early morning hours of Sunday for a fiesta celebration in Barangay Upper Tubod.
Witnesses said the victim was last seen dancing with Joy Lañas before he was shot in the head that caused his death.
He was brought to Carcar City District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Lañas said it was his first time to meet Vinsun, who was introduced by a common friend.
Residents in the area said it was also the first time that Vinsun came to their place. They did not even know that he was the son of the mayor until the incident happened.
Apura, however, said his son does not have enemies.
"He was a very good son. He was not a trouble-maker. He's kind and he does not have enemies," the mayor said.
Apura said he will not pressure the police to capture the suspect, but added that he wants them to do their job right and put to jail the right gunman so his son will get the justice he deserves.
Apura said he trusts the Carcar City Police to solve the crime as soon as possible.
