Water level in Magat dam rises due to continuous rain
Due to the incessant rain, the water level in Magat dam has also risen steadily this week.
The water level on Friday morning reached 191.34 meters, the highest recorded this week. It slightly dipped to 101.29 meters in early afternoon.
The current level is approaching 193 meters which would be above the rule card level.
The National Irrigation Authority has already started last Monday to release water from the dam.
The high water level is due to the heavy rains in the watershed areas of Nueva Vixcaya and Ifugao.
Based on the advisory of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services (PAGASA) the rains would possibly continue for the next several days especially that Tropical Storm Cosme is set to traverse Northern Luzon.
NIA said that based on the PAGASA advisory, it would continue releasing water from the dam possibly for one more week.
NIA warned residents in low-lying areas especially those living along riverbanks to be on the alert. With a report form Julius Camba, ABS-CBN Isabela
