Burglars cart P30K from treasurer's office in Misamis Oriental
Burglars ransacked the municipal treasurer’s office in Kinoguitan town, Misamis Oriental province before dawn Tuesday.
Police said the thieves entered the treasurer’s office through its back window. The robbers forced the office’s vault open and took P30,000 cash from it.
Investigators said the burglars were the same members of a group that has been responsible in a series of robberies in the town.
The treasurer’s office was just beside the municipal police station.
Senior Inspector Santiago Gallana, Kinoguitan town police chief, blamed the office’s lax security in the robbery.
“People go in and out of the office without proper coordination,” Gallana said.
He said that based on initial investigations, the burglars seemed familiar of the office.
The theory was confirmed by Sarita Marban, reimbursing officer. She said
“Alam nila lahat. Nabuksan nila lahat ng locker. Pera lang ang kinuha nila at iniwan ang tseke,” Marban said. With reports from Lorenzo Luzon, ABS-CBN Northern Mindanao
