MANILA, Philippines – A man died after a motorcycle was rammed by a cargo truck in Calamba, Laguna early morning Friday.

Motorcycle rider Eric Monchavez died on the spot after his vehicle was hit by a cargo truck along a road in Barangay Turbina at around 5 a.m.

Monchavez’s passenger, Daisy Austria, is in critical condition at the St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Sto. Tomas, Batangas.

Truck driver Herminio Pidraha has been placed under Calamba police’s custody, and is facing a charge of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and serious physical injuries. – report from Ronilo Dagos, dzMM
