MANILA, Philippines – Six people were hurt in Tarlac City Tuesday night after a man who was rejected by the woman he was courting threw a grenade.
Suspect Jesus Rayray, 34, hurled a grenade at “Irish” (not her real name) after she had turned him down.
Police said Irish was able to run away from the suspect and only sustained injuries to her arms and back.
SPO1 Carlos David, who tried to convince the suspect not to throw the grenade, was among those injured.
The other injured victims were Alberto Pangilinan, Marcelo Casupil, Brian Mejarito, and an unidentified bystander.
Rayray is in police custody and will face charges of frustrated murder.
Irish said Rayray had been courting her for 5 months. -- Report from Nevi Calma, ABS-CBN News Dagupan
