MANILA, Philippines – The local government of Rosario, Cavite on Monday announced the suspension of classes due to bad weather.

The Department of Education (DepEd) Cavite Division said the suspension of classes was recommended by Rosario Mayor Jose Ricafrente due to flooding in the town.

"As per verification from the DepEd Division of Cavite, please be informed that all districts of Rosario, Cavite suspended its classes,” the DepEd said in a text message sent to radio dzMM.

Intermittent rains marked the resumption of classes in public schools across the country today as typhoon “Ambo” continues to enhance the southwest monsoon (hanging habagat).

Over 21 million students were expected to return to their respective schools.

This school year also marks the launch of the K+12 program of the Department of Education (DepEd) which now includes Grade 7 in the elementary level and makes the Kindergarten level mandatory.
