Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao has moved with his whole family to his residence in the town of Kiamba in Sarangani province in preparation for the 2010 elections.
Pacquiao said his decision to move to Sarangani is part of his plan to run for Congress.
However, he said he will not yet be engaged in political activities.
Pacquiao, who soundly defeated British boxer Ricky Hatton last May 2, will continue to spend his free time with his family since the election campaign season is still five months away.
"Sinamantala ko ang pagkakataon na 'to talaga dahil lumalaki yung mga anak ko, at kulang talaga ako sa panahon sa kanila kaya nandito kami ngayon," said the boxer.
However, Pacquiao said he won’t be turning his back on his native General Santos City.
In fact, he said he is putting up a multi-million dollar eco-tourism investment in GenSan.
"Makakatulong yun para makapagbigay ng libu-libong trabaho sa ating kababayan," said Pacquiao.
The 2010 polls will be the second time he will be venturing into politics.
In 2007, Pacquiao suffered a lopsided election defeat to incumbent South Cotobato district representative Darlene Antonino-Custodio.
The top pound-for-pound fighter is currently spending his much needed rest with his family while his team is finalizing plans for his next fight. With a report from Jay Dayupay, ABS-CBN News SOKSARGEN
