2 alleged MNLF members nabbed in Basilan
ZAMBOANGA CITY - Two armed members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) were collared in Isabela City, Basilan.
Authorities arrested Dante Moreno and Macapili Parael, both MNLF members and natives of Cotabato. Six other companions were able to escape.
Isabela Police Office Chief, Police Senior Superintendent Albert Larubis said they received a call from a concerned citizen who was alarmed over the presence of armed men in Barangay Carbon, in the island of Malamawi.
Police confiscated from the two men unlicensed firearms, hand grenades, ammunitions and MNLF camouflage uniforms.
According to the two, they accompanied a certain Hadji Bensali Saripa--whom they identified as the Chief Commander of the MNLF Saura Division in Maguindanao--who visited the island. They added that they have no other intention of being in Malamawi.
A case of illegal possession of firearms, ammunitions and explosives are set to be filed against the two MNLF members.
