BIFF denies alliance with terror bomber
COTABATO CITY -- The Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) has denied an alleged alliance between the group and terrorist bomber Abdul Basit Usman.
The military earlier said the BIFF has a strong alliance with Usman, following a series of explosions and attacks perpetrated by the rebels.
However, BIFF spokesman Abumissry Mama said Usman is not a member of their group.
"Wala tayong kinalaman at wala tayong alliance sa BIFF si Basit Usman," Mama said.
Government troops have engaged members of the armed group in clashes in the towns of Datu Piang, Datu Unsay and Shariff Saydona Mustapha.
Another clash erupted on Tuesday in Barangay Lubutan in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, which led to the recovery of assorted explosives and firearms from Usman's camp.
