CAVITE - Five people were killed and one was seriously injured after a shootout prompted by road rage erupted at a public market in Imus, Cavite on Sunday evening.

The casualties were identified as Raul Bautista, his sons Richie and Raffy Bautista, as well as Mahmod Sultan and his father Salie Sowab Ali. Initial investigations reveal that the brawl started at about 9 p.m. on Sunday over a traffic-related argument.

Chief Supt. Ulysses Cruz of the Imus Police office said that Raul and his son, said to be close relatives of Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr., were on their way to the Imus public market to bring supplies to their stall when the car behind them, driven by Sultan, started honking impatiently. The two drivers reportedly got into a heated argument which escalated into a full-blown shouting match in front of the Bautistas' ice shop at the market.

An eyewitness named Marilyn Benedicto said Raul and Sultan threatened to kill each other while bystanders tried to intervene. She said that after a few minutes, Ali, Raul's two sons, and a member of the Bautistas' staff arrived at the scene bearing weapons and started shooting at each other.

Both families were killed in the gunfight while the Bautistas' staff, identified as Michael Salanguit, was reported injured.

Police are still investigating the exact details of the encounter. The victims' families, meanwhile, could not be reached for comment. Report by Ryan Chua, ABS-CBN News.
