'Feria' threatens Samar, storm signal No. 2 hoisted

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration on Tuesday hoisted Storm Signal No.2 in parts of Southern Luzon and Eastern Visayas due to bad weather brought on by tropical storm "Feria."

As of 10 a.m., the storm's center was located 100 kilometers east of Borongan, Samar and was moving at a west northwest direction at 22 kph. Packing 65 kph winds near the center, the storm is forecast to make landfall over Eastern Samar by Tuesday afternoon.

PAGASA hoisted Storm Signal No. 2 in Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay and Ticao Island in Luzon; and Leyte, Biliran Island and the Samar provinces in the Visayas.

Storm Signal No. 1 was hoisted over Camarines Provinces, Southern Quezon, Catanduanes, Burias Island, Romblon and Marinduque in Luzon; and Southern Leyte, Camotes Island, Cebu, Bohol, Northern Negros, Capiz, Iloilo and Aklan in the Visayas.

The weather bureau advised residents living in low lying areas and mountainous including coastal areas under Signals No. 2 and 1 against possible flashfloods and landslides.
