Baby boy in NegOcc tests positive for A (H1N1)
A one-year-old boy in Negros Occidental tested positive for Influenza A (H1N1) Wednesday but has already recovered and left the country before his test results came in.
Dr. Ariel Valencia, Department of Health Western Visayas director, said the baby arrived with his parents from Japan last June 11 and went home to Talisay City in the province.
The baby was hospitalized in Bacolod City where he underwent a swab test to determine if he had A (H1N1). Valencia said the baby, together with his parents, already went back to Japan after he was discharged.
"We just received his result on Monday but he was already released from the hospital last week. Apparently after he got well. They already flew out of the country. All we can do right now is to conduct contract tracing to include his family in Negros and ask them to self-quarantine," said Valencia.
The baby boy is the eighth A(H1N1) positive in Western Visayas and fifth in Negros Occidental.
There are also new ten CUOs (case under observation) in the region, totaling to 64 CUOs.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City and the province of Negros Occidental have already set aside millions of pesos to combat the spread of the A(H1N1) virus and have been conducting orientations in barangays to warn the public of the said new virus.
