MILF: Peace talks set to resume July 8

COTABATO CITY – The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) said on Friday that the peace talks between the Government of the Philippines and the MILF has been moved to July 8.

The 38th round of exploratory talks in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was originally scheduled for July 1.

MILF First Vice Chairman Ghazali Jaafar said this was agreed upon by the two parties as well as the Malaysian facilitator even if it falls on the observance of Ramadan.

The MILF is still on the process of reviewing and studying the proposal sent by the government peace panel on power and wealth sharing.

Jaafar said they have already adopted some positions regarding that of the government's proposal.

The position of the MILF Central Committee will be brought by the MILF peace panel to the negotiating table on July 8.
