3 soldiers wounded in clash vs NPA in Capiz

ILOILO - Two members of the 47th Infantry Battalion were wounded in an encounter with members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) in barangay Aglinab town of Tapaz, Capiz over the weekend.
The victims were identified as Corporal Limwel Cepeda and Private First Class Rolly Casipe.
The exchange of fire between CPP-NPA and the 47th Infantry Batallion broke out around 7 o'clock Saturday morning and lasted for 45 minutes.
The soldiers were on their way to barangay Aglinab to augment in social development projects when they encountered more than 10 rebels.
The 47th Infantry Batallion immediately sent a reinforcement in barangay Katipunan, and another soldier, Jobani Sinuy, was shot in the hand.
Wounded soldiers were airlifted to Camp Carreon in Calinog, Iloilo where they were immediately brought to a hospital in Iloilo City.
The 47th Infantry Battalion is still conducting pursuit operations against the rebels.
