Local gov't official shot dead in Masbate

A town councilor in Masbate province was shot to death inside his home's compound, Thursday night, police said.

The Masbate Police Provincial Office identified the fatality as Michael Sivellena, 47, a member of the Placer town council.

Investigators said Sivellena was shot several times by two gunmen inside his home's compound in Barangay Pasiagon around 6:30 a.m.

Sivellena died of at least 10 gunshot wounds in the body.

Police have yet to identify the gunmen and motive for the killing. With a report from Noel Alamar, radio dzMM
