A former bus conductor took hostage five of his former co-workers before being captured by police in Jaro, Iloilo Monday.

Marlon Enanoria, former employee of Ceres Bus Lines, boarded a bus while wearing his former conductor uniform just as the vehicle was entering the Ceres bus terminal in Buhang Village.

Police said Enanoria poked a .38 revolver and a 12-gauge shotgun at the employees and threatened to shoot if the cashier refused to give him money. When he was refused, he then took hostage five of his co-workers identified as Mary Grace Quicel, Line Celiz, Eva Vera, Luz Divina Gerra and Allen Baraguas.

Two of the employees escaped from the hostage-taker after pretending that they had fainted. The other three later escaped from Enanoria.

Police said they negotiated with Enanoria for 30 minutes before forcibly entering the bus terminal's office and arresting the hostage-taker.

Authorities said the former bus employee was involved in a bus hold-up in Calinog, Iloilo several months ago and a similar incident in June.

The hostage-taker said he tried to rob the bus terminal after being abused by his former boss in the company.
