Typhoon 'Huaning' enters PH area of responsibility

MANILA – Typhoon 'Huaning' has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wednesday.
PAGASA said as of 9 a.m. today, the typhoon was located 1,260 kilometers east of Itbayat, Batanes.
Huaning was packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour (kph) with gusts of up to 210 kph. It was moving west northwest at 20 kph.
No public storm warning signal has been raised so far since the typhoon remains too far to directly affect any part of the country, according to PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio.
PAGASA said the typhoon is not expected to make landfall in the Philippines but will still bring rains by enhancing the southwest monsoon (habagat).
Huaning is expected to move towards Taiwan and southern China. If it maintains its speed and direction, the typhoon will exit PAR on Saturday morning.
