4 robbers killed in Nueva Ecija shootout
MANILA, Philippines – Four members of a notorious robbery group were killed after an encounter with policemen in Barangay Burgos in the town of Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija, Wednesday morning.
According to Sto. Domingo Chief of Police, Chief Inspector Eric de Venancio, before the shootout, Baliwag Bus Transit driver Christopher Pineda and his conductor sought police assistance after they were held up by two armed men.
The suspects carted away P14,000 cash from the bus conductor.
De Venancio added said the suspects were not contented and held up 3 burger stands along the highway of Sto. Domingo, where the suspects took away around P3,000 cash from the burger staff.
After a pursuit operation, authorities cornered the suspects aboard two motorcycles.
A gunfight ensued resulting to the death of 4 suspects identified as Daryl Germino, Jeric Ace dela Cruz, Mandy Villa and Raymund dela Cruz, all of whom residents of Barangay Maliolio, Sta Rosa, Nueva Ecija.
The four suspects are believed to be members of the Arnel Petinez Group based in Bakal 3, Talavera.
Recovered from the suspects were a caliber .45 pistol with magazine, 2 caliber .38 revolvers, 1 hand grenade, a bag containing cash of the victims, cellphones, empty shells from caliber .45, caliber .38 and caliber 5.56mm firearms, 2 motorcycles without plate numbers, helmets and bonnets.
According to de Venancio, the group was believed to be behind a series of robbery incidents in Talavera, Guimba, San Jose City and Muñoz City in the province of Nueva Ecija.
