MANILA, Philippines - Police on Thursday shot and killed a suspected carjacker in an encounter at Malhacan village in Meycauayan, Bulacan.

Initial reports said police hailed Rommel Gabriel, alleged member of the Raymond Dominguez Carnaping Group, for driving a RAV4 with plate number XMH 917. The vehicle was reported stolen by a certain Carmelita Manalang.

Instead of stopping, Gabriel sped off and was pursued by the policemen.

The suspect fired at the police with a pistol but was shot down by authorities.
