Alleged NPA rebels torch port construction equipment in Mindoro
MANILA, Philippines - One backhoe and 3 dump trucks were destroyed in Occidental Mindoro by alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) on Thursday afternoon.
The torched equipment and vehicles were being used for the construction of a new port in Barangay Balao in Abra de Ilog.
Army’s 203rd Infantry Brigade (IB) reported that Goldrich company, the equipment’s operators for the construction, refused to pay revolutionary tax to the rebels.
The company said they were being asked P2 million in exchange for unhampered construction.
The port is where most vessels dock in the island province.
Town residents, people’s organizations, the local government unit and non-government organizations have condemned the act.
Even a federation of farmers and fishermen in the area condemned the torching, saying that the NPA rebels are a big obstruction to their aspirations for new development in the province.
Meanwhile, the 203rd IB and the police’s regional office are conducting combat operations against the perpetrators.

Why would they do such a
Why would they do such a thing? I guess they are unable to see that the country needs stability in order to rise, they should better focus their energy into something less destructive. Most economies rely on constructions to develop, if they keep destroying equipment they will produce nothing but chaos and will scare the future potential investors in the region.
Terrorist
Plain and simple act of terrorism.
Makabayan ba tawag diyan?
Why?
Why development projects for the masses being taxed?
