Seaman's wife robbed of P50K in Iloilo City
ILOILO – A seafarer’s wife was in a state of shock after she was released by the suspects who robbed her outside a mall in Iloilo City.
“Marlyn” (not her real name) told Sta. Barbara police investigators on Thursday that she was abducted, robbed and then released by unidentified suspects on board a black vehicle without a license plate.
The incident happened while she was waiting for a cab outside a mall along Benigno Aquino Avenue.
The victim said she had just come from a meeting with her husband’s colleague at the mall to get the P50,000 allowance from him.
The suspects’ vehicle suddenly stopped in front of her and forced her inside the car.
While inside the car, the suspects declared a hold-up and robbed her of her cash. She was brought out of town where she was also released.
The victim believed she was monitored by the suspects.
Mobile Patrol Units of the Philippine National Police conducted a manhunt operation against the suspects but they were nowhere to be found.
The authorities are now investigating the background of her husband’s friend who turned over the money.
Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Office will strictly implement the no plate, no travel policy amid a report that the vehicle used by the suspects bore no plate number.
