8 Cavite towns in state of calamity
MANILA, Philippines – Eight towns in Cavite have been placed under a state of calamity due to the devastation left by typhoon “Gener.”
Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla said rains continue to pour down on the already flooded areas of Bacoor City, Kawit, Ternate, Noveleta, Rosario, Naic, Ranza and Cavite City.
Authorities said worst-hit by the floods are Bacoor and Rosario, where floodwaters are chest-deep, particularly in Barangay Habay Uno and Barangay Ligtong 3.
Classes from preschool to high school in the province have been suspended due to the floods.
According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC)-Cavite, the typhoon left 1 person dead and 2 others missing.
In the coastal town of Ternate, 16 houses were destroyed by the typhoon. -- Report from Johnson Manabat, dzMM
