7 killed in Basilan clan feud
MANILA – At least seven people died and thousands fled their homes following a violent clash between two feuding families in Basilan last Sunday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Counci (NDRRMC) said.
In a report released on Thursday, the NDRRMC said the clash occurred between the families of Abubakar Palaman and Jabbar Sandiki in Barangay Lower Cabengbeng in Sumisip town at around 8 p.m. Sunday.
Four people from Palaman's group died, while three from Sandiki's group were killed.
The clash displaced 5,250 people in Sumisip, the NDRRMC said.
