MANILA, Philippines - Sulu Representative Nur-ana "Lady Ann" Sahidula on Wednesday denied that her family has links to a suspect in the Zamboanga City airport bombing.

"My husband is innocent. We don't know who he is. We don't where they got the information," Sahidula told ANC's On The Scene in an interview.

The congresswoman, who was vice-governor of Sulu, was referring to Addong Salahuddin, whom police identified as someone working for her husband, Tongkil town Mayor Wahid Sahidula.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Jesus Verzosa said that Salahuddin's involvement in the bombing at the arrival area of the Zamboanga City International Airport last August 5 was established after he was seen with Reynaldo Apilado and Hatimil Harun Yakob in a footage of a hotel's closed-circuit television camera.

Verzosa initially identified Salahuddin as the "Yellow Man" in the footage.

He said that Salahuddin arrived at the Imperial Hotel in Zamboanga City carrying a backpack, which was similar to the backpack carried by Apilado at the airport's arrival area.

He said that a meeting between the 3 men took place before the actual bombing at the airport.

Apilado and Yakob were the only fatalities in the blast, which took place as passengers were coming out of the airport's arrival area.

Among the injured passengers was Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan, who claimed that the bomb was meant for him.

Sahidula, meanwhile, denied that her family had something to do with the bombing.

She added that she and her husband should not be considered as political rivals of the Sulu governor.

"I'm not a political rival. I ran for Congress and my husband ran for mayor," Sahidula said.

The police has also named Temoden Tulawie and Moamar Askali, who both belong to political families in Sulu, as suspects in the blast.

Police said Tulawie and Askali are also suspects in the assassination attempt against the Sulu governor on May 13 last year. -- with a report from ANC
