Leni Robredo retraces final steps of Jesse in Cebu
CEBU -- Camarines Sur 3rd District Representative Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo on Thursday went to Cebu to retrace the final steps of her husband, the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, as his first death anniversary nears.
Upon her arrival in Mactan Cebu International Airport, she was met by Margarita Bahinting, the widow of Capt. Jessup Bahinting.
Capt. Bahinting was the pilot of the ill-fated Piper Seneca which was supposed to carry the DILG secretary and his aide from Mactan, Cebu to Naga City last August 18. Leni Robredo retraces final steps of Jesse in Cebu. The plane crashed in the waters off Masbate City.
Sec. Robredo, Capt. Bahinting and his Nepalese co-pilot died in the mishap.
Only Sec. Robredo's aide, Chief Inspector Jun Abrazado, survived the incident.
Mrs. Robredo said she had been longing to see Mrs. Bahinting.
Both exchanged pleasantries and promised to keep in touch with each other.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Robredo is also in Cebu to grace the opening of an exhibit on modern day heroes, where her husband is being considered as one.
