MANILA, Philippines – A 1-year-old boy has been shot dead by her 7-year-old sister inside their home in Davao City, police said.

Police investigation showed that the girl found her father’s homemade gun, locally known as “sumpak,” inside a drawer and shot her brother in the head.

The 1-year-old boy was sleeping when he was shot.

The girl admitted to shooting her brother, saying she imitated her 13-year-old cousin who she previously saw firing a toy gun at a beehive.

Police may file charges of illegal possession of firearms against the girl’s father, who was outside the house during the incident.
