MANILA (UPDATED) - A portion of a bridge at the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) has caved in because of the strong water currents dumped by tropical storm Maring.
SCTEX officer-in-charge Marie Joy Valencia said the Pasig-Potrero Bridge of the expressway is now closed to motorists after one of its foundations gave in.
She said the rest of the bridge has not been damaged, but they have closed it to ensure the safety of motorists.
She said those going north can use the Clark south exit and then pass through McArthur Highway. Motorists can then again enter the expressway via Porac.
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority, in a press statement, said rerouting of traffic to and from the Subic area and surrounding towns is being implemented.
It added that the SCTEX's Clark-Tarlac section remains open to all vehicular traffic. – with a report from dzMM
