Moro rebels mourn Robredo death
MANILA, Philippines - Moro rebels in the southern Philippines are also mourning the loss of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo.
The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has sent its condolences to the Robredo family, said Mohagher Iqbal, chairman of the MILF panel negotiating peace with the government.
Iqbal said Robredo's is not only a loss to former Naga City mayor's family and the Aquino administration but also to the peace efforts in Mindanao, according to the MILL website Luwaran.com.
"I know Robredo personally when we happened to be invited at a forum on peace process in Penang, Malaysia earlier this year and even at first impression, he is an amiable person," Iqbal said.
"May the family have the strength in this most difficult moment," Iqbal said in a statement.
