Batanes under signal no. 2 due to 'Nando'
MANILA – Public storm warning signal number 2 remains hoisted over the Batanes Group of Islands due to tropical storm "Nando," state weather bureau PAGASA said.
PAGASA said Nando was spotted 200 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan as of 4 a.m., and was packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 90 kph.
Signal number 1, meanwhile, remains hoisted in Cagayan, including Calayan; Babuyan Group of Islands; Apayao; and Isabela.
Nando was moving north northwest at 15 kph, and was expected to leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Thursday morning.
Nando was expected to enhance the southwest monsoon, which will bring light to moderate and thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon.
An estimated rainfall of 10 - 25 millimeters per hour (heavy - intense) is expected within the 400-km diameter of the storm.
PAGASA said sea travel is risky over the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon.
